Belgian Arrêté Affects Wipes
The Belgium Royal Arrêté aimed at protecting the systems of collection, transport and treatment of domestic and urban waste water impacts the wipe industry.
Included in the scope of the Arrêté (published 18th September 2015) are all types on wipes including Baby Wipes, Cosmetic Wipes, Surface Wipes and Moist Toilet Tissue.
The Arrêté specifies the criteria wipes must achieve in order to be flushable. For wipes which can not be flushed a logo is required. Belgium is currently the only member State which has published a law establishing mandatory requirements to indicate that a product is not flushable.
